SAFE POSITIONING FOR BABIES PRESENTATION KICKS OFF FREE PARENT EDUCATION SERIES ON OCTOBER 1POSTED: SEP 24, 2013
"Back to Sleep," (now Safe to Sleep) has reduced the rate of SIDS by nearly 50%, but has contributed to babies having flat spots on the backs or sides of their heads. Physical therapists Lauren Ahrendt and Rebecca Rippe will talk about safe positioning of infants for sleep and play. They will also discuss the importance of "tummy time" to reduce the potential for flat spots (plagiocephaly) and tight neck muscles (torticollis) that may pull a baby's head to one side. The presentation will be followed by question and answer time.
The next presentation is on November 5th, on adapting electronic toys for switch activation for children with limited hand function.
